Art

Art on display was created in the Computer Lab using MS Paint. Students were given three assignments:

Project 1 /COLOR ABSTRACT

Create at least 2 abstract paintings using a combination of straight, curved, and angle lines, with a roundish shape included. Within the shapes
students were to make a variety of patterns. Stress was also placed on the knowledge of the color wheel to place complementary colors next to each other (colors opposite on the color wheel, red-green, yellowpurple, orange-blue).

Project 2 / BLACK & WHITE

Based on the idea of positive and negative shapes, pupils designed at least two half black/half white paintings. Subject matter was optional, although only one painting could be made with geometric shapes. Use of the paint brush and airbrush was encouraged.

Project 3 /COLOR

Students created at least two color paintings, subject matter was optional. One painting had to demonstrate the use of a brush/airbrush technique in which rich layers of color and texture were built up in the piece.

In all assignments participants were shown techniques and examples of work related to the projects.
